Set within the 19th-century manor of Quinta da Casa Branca, the Bistro & Wine Bar welcomes guests into a luminous, intimate setting where tropical gardens provide a verdant backdrop.

The oldest building on the estate, once the family’s residence, now houses an inviting dining room that blends period charm with a relaxed, cosmopolitan mood. At lunchtime, from 12:00 to 15:00, the à la carte menu draws on the estate’s own produce and the daily catch from the Atlantic, offering plates that are fresh, light and contemporary. Signature creations include tuna tataki with sesame, seaweed, avocado and passion fruit, a bright coastal fish ceviche with mango and coriander, sea bass with tomato, onion, olives and basil, and a tender veal cheek simmered with Madeira rum and potato foam. For a sweet finale, the banana tart with Madeira wine sabayon captures the island’s culinary spirit in a single bite.
From 15:00 to 18:00, the pace softens with the ritual of afternoon tea: warm scones and homemade cakes are enjoyed in the shade of leafy avenues. As the day draws to a close, the bar becomes a refined retreat, perfect for a classic cocktail or a glass of Madeira wine while the gardens glow in the fading light. Open daily from 11:00 to 23:00, it is one of Funchal’s most elegant dining addresses — a place where seasonal flavours and timeless atmosphere create evenings to remember.
