Within Quinta Jardins do Lago, framed by centuries-old botanical gardens, Beresford honours its British heritage with refined dining in elegant rooms or on a charming terrace.

The restaurant takes its name from General William Carr Beresford, who lived at the Quinta in 1807 during the Napoleonic occupation of Madeira. A relic of that time remains in the main dining hall: an imposing sideboard once belonging to Beresford, today sharing the stage with refined dinners.
The experience begins in the gardens. Carefully nurtured over centuries, they form a living collection of tropical and exotic species. At dusk, their fragrances and silhouettes merge with the evening light, extending naturally into the meal. Dining outdoors on the traditional cobblestone terrace means being enveloped by the softness of Madeira’s climate and the elegance of the setting.
Indoors, the main dining hall exudes classic refinement, while the winter garden offers a more intimate, warmly lit atmosphere. Guests may choose the mood that best suits the occasion, whether a romantic evening, a family gathering or a discreet celebration.
The cuisine is author-driven, rooted in Mediterranean inspiration yet enriched with global contemporary influences. Local ingredients anchor the menus, crafted with precision and delicacy, designed to surprise with subtlety rather than extravagance. A considered wine list, with Portuguese labels at its core, complements the experience.
